Day 20 6 Jul 2009
Author: Brooks K.Location: West End, Tortola
Today was a great last day. Some woke up early to hike up Spyglass Hill, while the rest of us slept in until 7am. We ate cereal for breakfast before motoring to the Indians for our last dive. There was a lot of shenanigans during the dive, with a few people's fins being taken. Very funny! Then we ate lunch and the funniest thing of the day happened. There was a large food fight in the cockpit, where nearly everyone got hit with something. We then proceeded to clean the entire ship within an inch of its life. Once we finally finished, we got to relax in West End before going to the final BBQ. I had tons of fun on this trip and I'm pretty confident that my entire boat had a very enjoyable experience.

Day 19 5 Jul 2009
Author: Aaron M.Location: The Bight, Norman Island
Today started bright and early with a scenario for the Rescue divers. Following that, we went for a dive on the Fearless wreck, which was breathtaking. Meanwhile the Dolphins and Neptunes did a dive around the anchor of the Rhone. Upon surfacing, the Rescue divers were surprised with another rescue scenario. We then sailed over to Road Town where we enjoyed a nice meal. We ended up in the Bight at Norman Island for the night.

Day 18 4 Jul 2009
Author: James E.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
We woke up at 7am as usual and headed on a 2 hour sail to the Beta (wreck). There, the Neptunes dove the wreck as part of their wreck specialty course, while the Rescues and Dolphins did a sport dive, and the Dolphins worked on their projects. It rained for brief periods of time but the day was still beautiful. We sailed back to Great Harbor where two shipmates started having a fun "lemonade fight", which was easily the funniest part of the day. The Neptunes also had a test today for their specialties. It was a great day!

Day 17 3 Jul 2009
Author: Geoffrey M.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
After a delicious oatmeal breakfast we spent the morning sailing from Sidney's Peace and Love to West End, where we stocked up on food, walked around the stores, etc. We then got back on the boat and sailed to Great Harbor, Peter Island, where we all went for a fun dive. After Mexican night dinner, the Neptunes and Dolphins went for a night dive while the Rescues had a test: we all passed!

Day 16 2 Jul 2009
Author: Nick R.Location: Sidney's, Jost van Dyke
Today we woke up around 6am and had cereal, sitting on the calm ocean. After breakfast we had a dive, most groups had a sport dive, and the Dolphins worked on their projects (research dive). Lunch was chicken salad sandwiches, and we soon started setting up for the next dive. This dive was an optional dive for most, and the Dolphins worked on their projects some more. At night we had a great BBQ and hung out with all the shipmates of the whole program. It was back to the boat at around 11:30pm.

Day 14 30 Jun 2009
Author: Davis N.Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
We started off with oatmeal for breakfast. We put up our sails but there was absolutely no wind so we motored to out dive site. When we got there everybody dove at least once, and others twice. The Neptunes had a lecture for their equipment specialty and others went on another dive. Then we sailed over to Cane Garden Bay.

Day 13 29 Jun 2009
Author: Alora S.Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today was great! Rescue did their final navigation dive and then had a scenario where two of the instructors were "injured". They handled their first scenario very well. The neptunes learned from the Rescue shipmates about the tired diver tow, panicked diver approach and unresponsive divers. Then we played on the beach for a while. Meanwhile the Dolphins went turtle tagging. After that, all of the ActionQuest shipmates and staff got together and had a beach party, where we played the game of life. So all together, today was an awesome day.

Day 12 28 Jun 2009
Author: Paul H.Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
This morning we woke up and sailed to the Chickuzen for a dive, after the instructors had their staff meeting. After the hour of sailing we had some problems finding the wreck because the mooring balls had been removed. After around 30 minutes of searching for it, one of the instructors found it while snorkeling. This dive is a wreck in the middle of the ocean, north of the islands. It is one of the cooler wreck dives we had done! It is a 300 foot Japanese ship surrounded by fish. Most of the divers even saw some blacktip and nurse sharks! Afterwards we sailed to Muskmelon Bay, where the Neptunes were preparing for their final night dive for their specialty course.

Day 11 27 Jun 2009
Author: Bryn P.Location: Marina Cay
After waking up bright and early at Peter Island we went on a nice sail to Hodges Creek, where we refilled on water and got new linens. We then sailed to Ginger Steps where we dove as a boat for the first time. We saw the friendliest turtle ever!! Then we had a long sail to Marina Cay. After a delicious dinner of tortellini, garlic bread, and salad, we went to shore where Mike sat us all down and had us listen to a very inspirational speaker.

Day 10 26 Jun 2009
Author: Jean V.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
After a delicious breakfast we sailed for no more than 20 minutes from Great Harbor to the Fearless wreck, where the Dolphins and Neptunes dove, discovering a giant shipwreck and a random toilet. The Dolphins also got to do some snorkeling! Meanwhile the Rescues practiced saving an unresponsive diver. After that came lunch. The Rescues then went back to practicing their rescue skills and the Dolphins went on another dive and saw a big puffer fish and another wreck. For dinner we celebrated Thanksgiving! Stephanie and Brooks cooked mashed potatoes, cranberries, turkey, and stuffing. It was delicious! Mike Meighan, the director of ActionQuest, ate on our boat. He brought along a ziploc of black and white cards and spread them on the table. He made us pick three of them: one showing what we dislike about about ourselve, one showing what we like about ourselves, and one reminding us of what a true friend should be. Hearing what everyone had to say was extremely interesting!

Author: Erin S.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was really cool. We got to go diving on a wreck called the Rhone. It was awesome. It was so rough there. Then we sailed back to Peter Island and went swimming/snorkeling. It was cool! A bunch of people did flips and stuff off the back of the boat. Today was so funny.

Day 8 24 Jun 2009
Author: Brooks K.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
This morning our boat woke up and ate cereal. We then made the 21/2 hour sailing trip to Peter Island where the Neptunes did their deep dive, Dolphins did underwater photography, and Rescues did search and recovery. It was raining in the morning but then the weather cleared up and the ocean was fairly calm. Chris B.'s story about his shark friends Terrence and Phillip was probably the funniest part of the day. Probably the highlight of my day but you probably had to be there.

Day 6 22 Jun 2009
Author: James E.Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
We woke up this morning at 7am to the sound of bass that shook the ship. After having delicious cereal we had two amazing dives at Coral Gardens and the Flinstones. The water was rought but that did not affect the amazingness of the dives! Then we ate lunch (mac and cheese) and we slept out the afternoon until stroganoff at 6pm arrived. The dinner was very good and to a surprise there was no tumultuous weather like previous days. The best thing of the day was seeing a monstrous stingray.

Day 5 21 Jun 2009
Author: NataliaLocation: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we woke up bright and early at 6am and sailed from Savanna Bay (where we had slept) to the Baths, where we spent our morning jumping off big rocks and swimming. We then sailed to Spanishtown for a quick lunch and a look around the small town and it's stores. Then we sailed to Mountain Point, where our groups split up: Rescues practiced skills in the ocean while Neptunes and Dolphins snorkeled and explored a cave. Later that night they dove while the Rescues baked brownies for everyone! Today was probably the sunniest day so far!

Day 15 2 Jun 2009
Author: Stephanie H.Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
This morning we woke up around 6am at Cane Garden Bay. All the boats met at the dock and we started the 8 mile hike. The hike was 4 miles uphill and 4 miles down. Once all the shipmates made it down the mountain, we ate lunch at the restaurant where Jimmy Buffett got his inspiration for the "Cheeseburger in Paradise" song. Later, we headed over to Sandy Spit, where the sand castle contest took place. Our first idea was to make an elaborate sandcastle, but at the last minute, Sam gave us the idea to all be buried in one hole with just heads sticking out, and to write a sign that warns people of quicksand. After 20 minutes of being squished in the sand we all got out. Back at the boat, Jean made us a delicious meal called zucchini pasta.
