Author: Mac M.Location: The Bight, Norman Island
It was smooth sailing to Norman Island today with faulty wind on the way there. We had a margarine fight right after we cleaned the boat. We had to clean it again. Today was really fun. I think everyone had a good time.

Day 18 4 Jul 2009
Author: Jason B.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was very fun. Nobody would wake up so Eric and I had to pour water on a few people. We set sail immediately after breakfast to Salt Island. The Vegas and Barracudas went diving to the wreck of the Rhone. Rumor has it that the Rhone is one of the best diving spots in the BVI. After the dive we met up with Ocean Star again. Today had great weather. It was a little bit wavy but not too bad. After we were finished with Salt Island we went back to Peter Island where we would stay for the night. Day 18 was awesome/

Day 17 3 Jul 2009
Author: Maddy A.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today was mostly a sailing day. Everyone got to sleep in until 7, after the BBQ at Sidney's. That was really fun, there was a reggae band there. Me, Lily, and Maddy all signed the wall there. It ended up ending at 12am. In the morning the skippers drew numbers and I drew a two for Cedar, we ended up placing fourth in the race. After we all stopped at West End where we arrived on the first day. A group of us went and had lunch at a restaurant called Pussers. We got to call home. Me and Maddy and Lily went shopping after. We had a second skippers meeting. We started off in fifth. Dan and I were trading off helm the whole time, which was like three hours. We ended up placing fourth again I think. After we finally got to Peter Island we had Mexican night. Overall it was a really good sailing day, being skipper was really cool.

Day 15 1 Jul 2009
Author: Chloe O.Location: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
Today was the absolute best day of the program. I loved it. We had an early morning today, which started at 5:45. We hiked Mt. Sage, the tallest point in the US and British Virgin Islands. We hiked a total of five miles. It was great. An awesome workout. The cheeseburgers in paradise place was awesome. Everything was so beautiful and completely surreal. The locals were really nice and it felt so good to get to the top! Yeah! We even got to compete in a sand castle contest after the cheeseburgers. We made a cupcake to represent our dinghy, whose name is cupcake. We gave it ripples out of palm fronds, a candle out of a rock, oars, and an engine. And guess who won the contest? Cedar! Woohoo!!

Day 14 30 Jun 2009
Author: Daniel M.Location: Cane Garden Bay, Tortola
Today was great. We started with some Picos in Muskmelon Bay. We had little wind but we had some fun pirating Ben's Pico. We then had a talk on engines over at Serenity. We all went diving later, I went snorkeling with Jason and we saw a small shark, some flounder, and a trumpet fish. After lunch we went wakeboarding. After I finally convinced Lily of going. We had some great stuff, Lily got up but she went down after an accidental side flip. Mac got up too but fell down when he crossed the wake. I did an impressive board slide on the wake but wiped out when trying to make a 180. To end our rotation day we had some sweet bracelets out of rope and sailed to Cane Garden Bay. We were the first ones out and sailed pretty fast with little wind. When we anchored we ate dinner and celebrated Dan's birthday.

Day 13 29 Jun 2009
Author: Maddy G.Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today was the 7th rotation day! It wasn't very windy with the sun shining bright. We woke up to eat delicious scrambled eggs and a yummy muffin, then we started our rotations. First Picoing, and everyone did awesome flips off the boat while shipmates lounged on Picos in the glassy water. Next Vegas wnet on to complete and amazing third open water scuba dive and the Barracudas went on a deep open water dive. After everyone gathered together to eat tortilla soup for lunch after a hurried lunch cleanup everyone went to go waterskiing, and after to tie knots. For dinner every boat and crew member aboard them went to a BBQ and had tons of fun!

Day 10 26 Jun 2009
Author: Daniel C.Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today the weather was great. It wasn't too hot or too cold. The wind was strong enough for sailing but it wasn't insanely strong. Today we had our fifth rotation day, starting with practicing mooring our boat. We then went off to go sailing the Picos and doing dives off of boats. Vegas had their first open water dive and the Barracudas did a dive without supervision. We finished off with a sailing talk about navigation. We have had the best dinner for a while. We got Thanksgiving dinner. For me the funniest part of the day was the unofficial dance competition from boat to boat. I am eager for tomorrow's activities.

Day 9 25 Jun 2009
Author: Lily F.Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today was a good day. The weather was nice and the wind was calm. We had our fourth rotation day and the last confined water dive for the Vegas and the Barracuda's first night dive. I was also the skipper today and I have to say I did not enjoy it. On the positive side I liked being in charge but nobody seemed to listen to me. I think ActionQuest is a really really awesome camp and I love it here so far. The funniest part of the day for me was probably trying to do a cartwheel underwater... it didn't work so well though. The Vegas also have the final exam tonight. I think the best thing that happened for everyone was probably the scuba for everybody. And I can't wait til tomorrow.

Today we sailed for about 6 hours. With 12 minutes for full sail we set a new record with being ready 30 minutes before schedule. We were good at tacking the jib/main. No stars tonight.

Day 6 22 Jun 2009
Author: Jason B.Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today we had our second rotation day, which included windsurfing, sailing on small 19 foot boats called Rhodes, and scuba diving. Inconsistency of the wind mixed with lack of experience made falling inevitable while windsurfing, but the water's refreshing temperature felt extremely good. Definitely the highlight of the morning was zipping around on the mini boats trying to spray each other with water pumps. Scuba was exciting and a fun challenge once again, and dinner (tomato stroganoff) was yummy. Overall, a great and eventful day in the BVIs.

Day 5 21 Jun 2009
Author: Maddy A.Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today was pretty sunny, we started off in Savanna Bay and made our way over to the Baths. There we jumped off rocks, swam in caves, and generally just climbed all over/chilled in the water . After we motored to Spanishtown and had lunch/ice cream/bought groceries. Everyone also got to call their parents. After my intense experience docking a boat we were finally on our way to Vixen Point. It was a relaxing/funny/tiring and it was really just my favorite sail all together. The part some of us missed was Mac singing High School Musical. At the end I'm pretty sure I was sailing the boat in reverse for an hour waiting for Pine to be ready. It was really fun and I think I mastered it. The squeeze was the best yet and dinner was good.

Author: Filip S.Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
Today we had our first rotation day. We stayed in Savanna Bay and did various activities from hiking and windsurfing to scuba and learning hw to drive a dinghy. For Vegas it was their first confined water dive. The Barracudas had two dives today. Tonight we will have our first sailing chat.

Day 3 19 Jun 2009
Author: Chloe O.Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
We woke up to a yummy breakfast of eggs and fresh fruit. Then we sailed. It was fun getting to know the ways of the ship. Then we had some lunch. After that we sailed some more and went on a wicked scuba dive. We saw lots of coral, fish, squid, and even a shark. Dinner was fun too. People demolished the cake. Overall, it was a great 13th birthday.

Day 2 18 Jun 2009
Author: Daniel M.Location: The Bight, Norman Island
We were on the dock in Tortola, that day we had pancakes for breakfast and a short brief about life on the boat. Later we headed to Norman Island and luckily I got the chance to drive/sail there. We had a great lunch (sandwiches) and went snorkeling in the caves. We anchored in another part of the island and had sloppy joes for dinner, which were then attacked by the seagulls.

Day 1 17 Jun 2009
Author: Ben L.Location: West End, Tortola
Shortly after sleep deprived flights and recovering from airline food we all arrived with only one luggage lost. The pasta was a relief from airline food. We went to bed after our flights.
