Day 15 15 Aug 2009

Author: Thomas J.
Location: West End, Tortola
Today we woke up early and rushed through a breakfast of pancakes. Afer that we sailed over to and then dove the Indians. After that we all started packing while the staff sailed us to West End. Upon arrival we began the monumental task of "Boat Appreciation." As I write it is still in progress. Everyone is busy carrying things, scrubbing things, washing the boat, etc. Once we have finished this we will have free time until dinner, and then we spend our last night together, as tomorrow we all go our separate ways.

Day 15 14 Aug 2009

Author: Sam B.
Location: The Bight, Norman Island
We woke up yet again to a Shenanigans in which we prepared for and enabled ourselves to save all the divers. We grabbed breakfast and sailed to the wreck of the Fearless which we then dove. After that we sailed to Road Town where we had lunch and a variety of snacks. After Road Town we had a wild sail to the Bight. We decided to sail all the way into the bay so we had to tack about seven times. We then had Mike over for dinner of black beans and hot dogs. After that we stayed up rather later writing cards for each other. Afer a night shower and funfetti we hit the hay.

Day 14 13 Aug 2009

Author: Unknown
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
This morning we woke up to "Shenanigans!!," a term we use in a rescue simulation. We were awoken by two staff members screaming "Ahh I'm a panicked diver!!! I'm panicking!" After the divers had been "rescued" we ate breakfast and sailed to Salt/Cooper Island. There we dove twice at the wrecks the Beta and the kissing wrecks. Many of us agreed that it was one of the coolest sites of the trip. After lunch we then sailed back to Peter Island. Here we all hung around and swam in the perfectly clear water. Dinner was thanksgiving night, my favorite meal at AQ. After dinner we all took tests or filled out paperwork for our certifications. Today was yet another great day of this great trip that we sadly have to say goodbye to in a few short days.

Day 13 12 Aug 2009

Author: Danny K.
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
Today we woke up and had scrambled eggs and pancakes. It was great. We went on a sweet dive on a fun, deep wreck that we all got to explore inside and out. After that we had a long and rough sail to Peter Island, where we swam, dove, and wakeboarded a lot. After that we ate a quick lunch. The Neptunes then went turtle tagging while the Rescues had a scenario. For dinner we had a great Mexican fajita night. We then got to go on an optional night dive on our own, without any instructor. After we were welcomed onboard with delicious brownies cooked by our wonderful chef, Blair. We then relaxed until we all went to bed.

Today we woke up and set sail to Sandy Spit. While navigation some of us slept and the others studied for the oxygen test. When we arrived at our destination the Rescues had a search and recovery dive. After that we ate delicious pasta, then we went on a fun dive in which we saw a school of huge tarpon. In the afternoon we had for dinner a delicious pasta again, but this time we got the opportunity to be with Jim and then we played a game of cards with him.

Day 11 10 Aug 2009

Author: Danny K.
Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
We woke up today and sailed immediately to Sommer's Beach. The Rescues then had a dive while the Dolphins went out to catch turtles while being towed underwater by a dinghy. The weather was great, including lots of sun with a nice breeze. Then some of us went on a fun dive under the boat, and then Chris took some out for a fun wakeboarding session. That night all boats went to the beach for a BBQ which turned out great. Once it got dark Jim collected everyone to play the Game of Life. On our way back Sam had to inspect us thoroughly because he did not want a single grain of sand on the boat. All in all it was another great day at sea with no injuries, no pain, and no downsides. Everyone had lots of fun, and hanging out wtih other boats on the beach was probably the highlight of the day for most people.

Day 10 10 Aug 2009

Author: Sam P.
Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
Today we mostly sailed, the wind and the current were kinda hard. We also went to the beach and hung out and talked to people from another boat. The pancakes we had for breakfast was almost like a complete fail, we ate with our hands and the cooks had funny pancakes. Some had chocolate sauce on them. After that it was pretty calm.

Day 9 8 Aug 2009

Author: Karsten C.
Location: Marina Cay
Today we woke up and were all tired from the previous night's shenanigans. After having eggs and blueberry muffins, we set up our gear to go scuba diving. After surfacing from our dive I took a nap. We probably sailed, because when I woke up we were docke at a port. Half of us went to a restaurant for lunch. The other stayed on the boat for ramen noodles. I bought a cheeseburger. After returning from our lunch we continued to sail again.

Day 8 7 Aug 2009

Author: Alayna L.
Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
We slept in a little later than usual and set sail to Great Harbor, Peter Island. Our rescue group did some skills above and below the water, practicing emergency ascents and resuscitating unconscious divers. We came back and enjoyed a grilled cheese lunch. We snorkeled and swam until we had to gear up for a search and recovry dive. Most of the groups came up with their prize after only 10-20 minutes. Sam and I have endured some communication errors and ended up coming up unsuccessfully after 30 minutes. We came back and ate dinner until the Neptunes had to gear up for their night dive.

Day 4 3 Aug 2009

Author: Thomas J.
Location: West Dog
Today we woke up early and motored over to the Baths, which were fun as usual. Wading in shallow pools and climbing over rocks is fun, though admittedly the cause of a few minor scrapes. Once of the best parts is the jumping rock, in which Danny managed a one and a half somersault jump. After the Baths we proceeded on to Spanishtown for a delicious, but very expensive lunch. After that we sailed to the Dog islands, where the Rescues did a dive and the others snorkeled the site of their night dive, which they will dive shortly. While they are doing that, the Rescues will be having a lecture. And so concludes another very full, but very fun day.

Day 3 2 Aug 2009

Author: Sam B.
Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
A new month began today. It was full of fun diving and a lot of naps. We began our activities by watching a navigation video. After that we hopped in the water and began our dive. We had to make underwater patterns such as a line and a square. We then set sail and dove a wreck. Throughout the day we saw multiple awesome turtles. The weather was all over the place. It poured and was sunny. I believe everyone gets along well and I can't wait to spend more time with them.

Day 2 1 Aug 2009

Author: Rebecca P.
Location: White Bay, Peter Island
Today was our first full day aboard Bulot. After we woke up and ate breakfast, we all attended the program meeting and waited for the arrival of our last two crewmates. Once the crew was complete we set sail for Peter Island. It was a two hour sail and many of us enjoyed sitting on Bulot's trampoline, getting soaked by the waves crashing over. When we arrived we geared up and completed our first dive. Then we swam around, showered, and enjoyed a delicious dinner of sloppy joes, mashed potatoes, and corn.

Day 1 31 Jul 2009

Author: Alayna
Location: West End, Tortola
We traveled a long ways today and finally arrived in beautiful West End. It rained really hard on our first night on the Bulot. Our shipmates will be a fun group and we are excited to go see the islands, go sailing, and also dive a lot.
