Day 16 15 Aug 2009
Author: Ollie M.Location: West End, Tortola
Having started the day off with what cereal we had left, we soon got our game faces off and prepared for the race, led by myself and Eric, clad in white garments from head to toe, including non-rubbed in sunscreen in honor of E-rock (Eric). Maya was first to take the helm, leading us toward the start of the race, before joining the remainder of the Cedar crew sitting on the high side. Soon after the race was underway, with Alex and Sammy tending the main sheet, myself and Elliot on the jib, and Kyle on the helm. Having led for the majority of the first leg, Cedar was passed by two boats. Finally passing the line taking bronze, we started to clear out and clean Cedar, which was a lot harder than it sounds, finishing up in the early afternoon. We now have some time to spend in West End before preparing for the BBQ.

Day 15 15 Aug 2009
Author: Briland F.Location: The Bight, Norman Island
We were awoken to wakeboard and waterski and perhaps the choppiest day of the trip so far. We waited patiently for breakfast for what must have been close to two hours, don't get me wrong the french toast was delicious, but the anticipation made it the best breakfast so far. We made our sail to Road Town at 10am and arrived at 11:45am. We had an hour and thirty minutes on shore, which was not near enough time to enjoy the beautiful city. We departed to our current location, arriving at 4:30pm. Shortly after we had our daily shower and dinner of franks and beans.

Day 14 13 Aug 2009
Author: Alex M.Location: Great Harbor, Peter Island
This morning started with slips of paper. The skippers and skippers of the day chose positions for the race to West End. Tortola hosted another great day for sailing. Cedar ended up in third, but with a cleaning of the hull can easily outpace any other ship in our flotilla. Our afternoon, starting with lunch, was a great buffet at West End's port at Pusser's. After leaving the dock the crew powered through the sailing practical with ease. For the evening squeeze we reflected on our AQ experience.

Day 12 11 Aug 2009
Author: MayaLocation: Sandy Spit, Green Cay
This morning, after the shipmates awoke sluggishly from their sleep, we prepared to raise the anchor, and then left for Muskmelon Bay. During that time we ate cereal for breakfast. After breakfast our group gathered for a sail chat about pursuing sailing/scuba diving. Once the chat was finished we moved on to a much anticipated activity: making Turk's Heads bracelets. We then split up into two different groups for scuba snorkeling, and then sailed to Sandy Spit.

Day 11 10 Aug 2009
Author: Sammi D.Location: Sommer's Beach, Tortola
Today we woke up to scrambled eggs and muffins! Then the Quests headed off to the Lifeworks boat to tag turtles all day. While we were there we caught and tagged five turtles, making the overall count so far 24 turtles. The Quests ate lunch with Lifeworks while the Vegas had a rotation day of diving, wakeboarding, and some Picoing. We then reunited for shower time and a beach BBQ and the Game of Life. The game was ruined by the weather so we all went back to our boats to get dry. After a great day we were all tired and went to bed early and prepared for the next day.

Day 10 9 Aug 2009
Author: Gabby S.Location: Muskmelon Bay, Guana Island
We had a pretty sweet day today. We slept in til 7:30 this morning and had the pleasure of eating delicious pancakes made by Katy and myself. Next we went sailing and practiced many sailing skills we have learnt over the trip, like man overboard, etc. Next we stopped at a little rocky beach where we all hung out and explored the area. We saw how many rocks each person could fit on their shoulders. Finally we sailed to our night spot, had some delicious chilli and rice, and watched the sun set. It was a very nice and relaxing day :-)

Day 9 8 Aug 2009
Author: Katy E.Location: Marina Cay
Today was a great day. We started off the morning with snorkeling and scuba diving. The snorkel was beautiful. We saw so many amazing fish and the best part was that thewaters were jellyfish free. Then we had a relaxing afternoon of sailing and had some free time at port here at Marina Cay. Just now most of the shipmates are on deck feeding a huge barracuda. We are just about to leave for a fun Lifeworks activity with Jim.

Day 8 7 Aug 2009
Author: CarlaLocation: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
Today we woke up and had an extremely satisfying breakfast consisting of eggs, muffins, and bacon. We went on to start our glorious rotation day with man overboard drills, in which we saved our fender several times from drowning. Then the Quests went snorkeling while everyone else went scuba diving. We finished off the rotation day with some waterskiing and wakeboarding, which was very exciting because of how much everybody has improved in this area. Anway, Jim is coming for dinner so I need to end this and help clean up!

Day 7 6 Aug 2009
Author: Elliot H.Location: Mountain Point, Virgin Gorda
After another day of outstanding wit and good humor from the Brits, we were presented by a delightful meal of Mexican food from the boat. In general the day was extremely enjoyable, with Pico sailing and snorkeling. The snorkel provided sights of outstanding beauty and a variety of rare species. All the Quests thoroughly enjoyed the experience and even invented a new sport- jellyfish dodging. The Puffer fish, Trumpet fish, Parrot fish, sea urchin, and many others really did make the experience unique, despite the presence of moon jellies. Moving on, the day was enhanced by calm seas. Finally, as I write this it has started to rain and have now been surrounded by a group of noisy shipmates. Therefore, I am now finishing the days log and I look forward to being skipper once again (everyone does what you tell them to).

Day 6 5 Aug 2009
Author: Jason G.Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today we awoke to a brilliant cereal breakfast, followed by a morning sail around Vixen Point. The sailing abruptly affected our appetite, leading to an early lunch. Elliot and I thought it would be "bomb" to fry up some bacon and add it to our already exotic sandwich lunch. So we did, allowing for a perfect blend of flavors bursting with every bite. Then we sailed and docked at Leverick Bay, creating the perfect moment to restock up on bacon. With our tummies full and our cabinets stocked, we finished our day sailing around Virgin Gorda.

Day 5 4 Aug 2009
Author: OllieLocation: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
The day started with a light drizzle of rain, waking some of the hammock and deck sleepers from their slumber. "#@$%!" Elliot exclaimed, having been confused by the rain for a third time. After eating a delicious french toast, we then proceeded to the beach to commence our morning activities, consisting of Pico sailing and windsurfing. After a day of excellent cooking from Elliot and Alex we continued to enjoy Elliot's salad dressing later on that evening. After a very enjoyable morning of fun, we then went on to split into our chosen activities. For me, scuba diving was an absolute blast, having been ambiguous from the start, throughout the duration of the dive. After this we then sailed on a bigger sailing boat called Rhodes 19s. We then continued to enjoy our dinner, which was prepared by Briland and Carla.

Day 4 3 Aug 2009
Author: Briland F.Location: Vixen Point, Gorda Sound
Today we visited one of the most remarkable places I've ever been; the Baths. I have traveled to many places, including Italy, Greece, Egypt, China, and Mexico, and nothing compares to the natural beauty of the Baths. We left the Baths and hit a light storm at about 2pm. Prior to the squall we visited Spanishtown, where we feasted on burgers, fries, and soda. Scotty reviewed the points of sail, which was cut short by rain. We arrived in Vixen Point for dinner of chilli and rice.

Day 3 2 Aug 2009
Author: Alex M.Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
For once it didn't rain overnight, meaning everyone awoke in good spirits. After a delicious breakfast of eggs, people on Vega went to shore, did a bit of hiking and windsurfing, then moved over for the first confined water dive. Everyone completed loads of diving skills and headed back to the boat for lunch. Meanwhile, Quest joined the Lifeworks boat Natasha then went to the national park on Virgin Gorda that had an old copper mine on it. There they talked with a ranger learning about the history of the area, then did a beach cleanup. After lunch we went wakeboarding, waterskiing, and kneeboarding.

Day 2 1 Aug 2009
Author: Kyle M.Location: Savanna Bay, Virgin Gorda
The sun was bright, the sky clear, and the sea was calm. The first day of sailing boasted strong winds and eager crew. All day we learned every job in managing a ship and how to sail properly. We learned all steps and jobs on how to raise and lower the mainsail and jib. Taking turns at driving, we all learned to also steer a boat according to the wind. Tacking and trimming the sails were two actions we all mastered. Furling and unfurling were the words of the day.

Day 1 31 Jul 2009
Author: Ollie MLocation: West End, Tortola
While waiting for the rest of our crew members to arrive, we (Ollie and Elliot) helped to transport the food from where it was dropped off to each of the boats related to ActionQuest. There after, several of the other crew members began to arrive. Having checked our passport, emergency money, mobile phone, and other flight related documents in, we then took part in the swim test, which consisted of swimming from the bay to a designated area, twice. Having completed this we would then tread water for ten minutes. Throughout the remainder of the day, more members of Cedar would arrive and partake in checking in and swimming. At approximately 8pm we began to serve dinner, provided by Gabby and Carla, supervised by Elliot. Dinner consisted of pasta, tomato sauce, and garlic bread. Great success. We then cleaned up having finished the meal.
